How to Find Your Mower Model Number and Order the Right Parts

"I don't know my model number" is the most common thing we hear from new customers — and it's completely understandable. Mowers don't make it easy. Here's exactly where to look, for every major brand.

Why the Model Number Matters

Even two mowers that look identical can use completely different blades, belts, or filters. The model and serial number are the only reliable way to confirm compatibility — especially for older machines.

Where to Find It (By Brand)

  • Husqvarna: Sticker on the frame under the seat, or on the engine shroud
  • Victa: Plate on the rear of the deck or under the handle
  • Rover: Label on the side of the deck near the rear wheel
  • Briggs & Stratton engines: Stamped on the engine block near the air filter
  • Kawasaki engines: Sticker on the engine shroud
  • Honda engines: Sticker on the engine casing near the oil fill cap

Pro tip: Take a photo of the model plate with your phone before it fades — it'll save you time every time you need parts.

What to Write Down

  • Model number (e.g., YTH2348)
  • Serial number (helps identify production year and any mid-run changes)
  • Engine brand and model (separate from the mower brand)
  • Deck size (in inches or cm)

When You Can't Find the Number

  • Check the owner's manual — the model is usually on the cover
  • Look for a receipt or warranty card
  • Search the manufacturer's website using physical measurements
  • Contact us — we're happy to help identify parts from photos
